Eugene Oregon is about 90 miles south of Portland right on the Interstate 5 corridoor, and at the south end of the Willamette River valley. It is the second largest city in the state of Oregon, and home to the University of Oregon.
Eugene is also sometimes called “Tracktown USA”. Perhaps this is because of the connection to famed distance runner Prefontaine, or maybe its because the Nike corporation had its beginnings in Eugene.
Eugene has the feel of a sleepy west coast college town with lots of professional academics. You will find old craftsman and farmhouse properties from the 20′s, 30′s and 40′s. Properties can be found near campus, or nestled in the forest areas.
It is certainly famous for its culture of liberal activism, as well as its natural beauty. World class fly fishing can be found in either the Willamette or McKenzie rivers.
